In 1929 a great depression hit the United-States and afterwards it hit Europe in 1930. It became the deepest depression of the industrial age. The charismatic Adolf Hitler used the fears of the people to gain power in Germany. Like Mussolini, the Nazi party mixed the legitimate political process with violence to seize power, destroy democracy, and build a dictatorship as planned. The Nazis were a very small party, and barely received any votes from the population. Hitler also seized power through the political crisis of the German depression.
The Nazis began their road to power by using flags, party badges, uniforms, its own newspaper, and its own police force the SA. They relied mostly on propaganda, managed by Josef Goebbels, and Hitler's charismatic personality and intimidation could only help.
