Restoration Perios
The Restoration was a period of novel's, religious and political sects, theatre, literature and two tragedies the Great Fire and the Plague. The period begins and ends with Charles II. It starts with his coronation and ends with his death.
The Restoration period is described by the word that means, "to restore." Not only was the throne restored, much more came back to London's culture. Upon Charles II return he reopened the London Theatre, and allowed for the first time women to perform on stage. He also renamed the Anglican Church as the official Church of England, which was of protestant beliefs. There was also a freedom of literature that opened the way for writers such as Pepys, Swift, Blake and even women writers like Aphra Behn. London wasn't all great. The streets were disgusting and the nights were full of danger.
