Emily's relationships with others are very clearly divided into five categories: domineering, warm, loving, cordial and flattering. Firstly, her domineering attitude can be classified into two kinds: one type displayed is an overbearing one, while the other is an over-assertive type.

Her bossy attitude is turned on when speaking to her servants and others whom she considers below her, like the fishmonger. When speaking to these people, her language becomes very coarse and uncouth, as if she thinks that they would not be able to understand what she is trying to relate to them if she speaks in unbroken English. I think that this is a very demeaning action on her part. Also, she does not speak to her servants; she hollers at them. For example, she would yell, "Ahmat!!! Bring the car!!!" She could speak at a normal tone, and her rudeness towards her servants further proves...
