The Russian Government has come along way from the idealistic autocracy lead by the Romanov family. In to today's Russia, the Russian Federation is the leading government. This paper will take a journey through the transformations of the Russian Government, from the Romanov dynasty to the present day Russian Federation: it will compare and contrast the Communist government to today's government in Russia.

Some of the major transformation began when the Mongols raided Kievan Russia sending them into two hundred years of recovery for their independence (Kort 9). Leading up to the start of the Romanov Dynasty, this began with Michael Romanov in the sixteenth century. The Romanov Dynasty was a form of government ran as a militarized autocracy.
