Summary: Persuasive essay demonstrating that Ralph is the real leader in Lord of the Flies.
Who is the real leader? Ralph! In the novel Lord of the Flies Ralph possesses many good qualities as chief/leader of the boys on the island. He proves that he has the right personality to be a leader. Some examples are; he is confident, outgoing, and considerate.
Ralph demonstrates that he takes initiative in situations and follows through with ideas that are given. As a leader taking initiative means that important things will get finished faster and more efficiently. In Chapter One, Piggy points out the conch and suggests Ralph blow it to call the other boys. Ralph takes initiative and learns how to use the conch with instructions from Piggy. Then continues blowing it until the other boys arrive. "By the time Ralph finished blowing the conch the platform was crowded." (Page 35) Another situation in which Ralph takes initiative is by going up to the mountain...
