Themes of Seamus Heaney's - "Follower"

Seamus Heaney is a prize winning, Irish poet. In his poem "Follower" he deals with an important human relationship between a father and a son and, through skilful use of language, he has successfully conveyed this to me, the reader.
One clever use of language that is very noticeable at the start is the title. The word "Follower" illuminates how he physically wanted to follow his father around the farm when he was a young boy. Also, it emphasises how he wants to metaphorically follow in his father's footsteps i.e. be successful and skilful at whatever he works at when he is older.
This theme is clear right from the start of the poem when he expresses his admiration for his father's strength and skill:
"His shoulders globed like a full sail strung
Between the shafts and the furrow.
The horses strained at his clicking tongue."
