Black Fashion
Over the year's many designers have used African Americans as their muse. When creating a new collection. Although African Americans have not always been recognized for their contributions to fashion, their unique fashion sense has been apparent for more than a century. But true interest in African American fashion did not start until the 1920's and it failed to receive true mainstream exposure until the hip-hop age of the 90's.
The Harlem Renaissance was a decade filled with Black style. Ethnic groups of all walks of life, especially whites, became smitten with the Black culture. World War I had just ended and everyone who had felt the affects of the war could not be more overjoyed. Soon after the war ceased, a new type of Black music swept the nation: jazz. Blacks and White alike spent many of their nights in the cotton clubs...
