Change for Good or bad (reference to the changes the enlightenment incurred)
The Enlightenment is a name give by historians to an intellectual movement that was predominant in the Western world during the 18th century. The eighteenth century was a century of mind-boggling change; when Europeans entered the nineteenth century, they lived in a world that barley resembled the beginning of the eighteenth century. Western Civilization was strongly influenced by the rise of modern science and by the aftermath of the long religious conflict that followed the Reformation the 18th century proved to change the world in many ways. The Enlightenment proved to create much controversy not only in the 19th century but even still today. Many well respected writers, scientists and politicians had mixed views of the very different 19th century life.
