Dodgeball
Summary: How Dodgeball got banned in my area schools. I got story of the month at my high school newspaper
Dodge ball. Who would have thought that such a great playground game, and one that has been around for a long time, could get national attention? Many local schools and others nationwide have banned the game of dodge ball due to the risk of injury and the prospect of students getting "singled out." Others claim dodge ball may depict war or battle, yet many children sit in front of a television or computer playing some of the most graphic war games imaginable. What is even more troubling is that the Secretary of Health has announced that a high percentage of our children today are obese. This is largely due to the lack of exercise and excessive use of video games. Even though we have extra-large children sitting in front of the boob tube - dodge ball is psychologically unhealthy - go figure...
