The development of the English law and democracy, directly and indirectly influenced The constitution of The United States. Enlightened philosophers, particularly John Locke, also had a tremendous impact on the development, and establishment of Democracy in America. And here's why.
The Magna Carta (1215)
The Magna Carta was signed by John the first in 1215, by force of his great counsel. It is the first in a list of several documents that enforce the same points, it, of which, contains two main points of interest. The king could first of all, no longer issue taxes without consent of the Great Counsel, and secondly he had to guarantee a trial, by jury, for all English people. Its affect was quite simply to limit the royal power in England. Amendment number five of our constitution guarantees much of the same rights as the Magna Carta.
