Atypical pneumonia

Summary: The effect of the disease in Hong Kong
Atypical Pneumonia

Hong Kong is now severely affected by atypical pneumonia.  The number of people infected the deadly but mysterious virus grows every day.  It poses a severe blow to the medical system including hospital and the medical profession.  Doctors and nurses who handled the patients contract the diseases.  Many hospitals nearly reached its optimum level and many intensive care units are full.  If the number of patients grows continuously as it was during the past few weeks, some hospitals cannot cope with it.  Not only the medical profession, but people from all walks of life were badly affected by the virus.  People are not willing to go out to some crowded places such as shopping mall, restaurants, cinema and karaoke, lest they would contract the disease.  They are afraid of the disease so that most of them go home after work.  This, in turn, causes a plummet in the business turnover of the retail sectors.  Many businesses like restaurants, tourist's agency see drop in sale for about 70 to 80 percents.

If the spread of the deadly diseases cannot be contained in the near future, the economy and the people's livelihood will be badly hit.
