Merrill D. Beal was a Professor of History at Idaho State University from 1947-1966. In addition to the above mentioned he wrote other books relating to the American west, such as Grand Canyon: The story Behind the Scenery and The Story of the Utah Northern Railroad: Idaho Yesterdays. I Will Fight No More Forever is a historical account of the Nez Perce and their struggle to find some solidarity within the confines of the white man's territory. In so doing the Nez Perce encounter resistance from local military outfits and in their zeal to elude them receive more resistance from settlers and both Crow and Cheyenne Indians.
