Allegory of the Skyscraper
Summary: I was required to write an allegory of my own after analyzing Plato's Allegory of the Cave.
Imagine, if you will, a building so high it seems to touch the heavens. It has been there for what seems like a lifetime, and will be there for twice as long. The building is surrounded by others, but none are so high or majestic. They cower in the building's shadows, only wishing for existence. Also around this building, and others, is a constant stream of people. There is a lake nearby, a shimmering mirror of vibrant blue, which draws crowds, as does the work environment that the skyscrapers and buildings provide. There is a man embedded in this stream of people, a man who touches and visits this high skyscraper everyday. The building will not remember him. He could connect with it directly, and still the building would not remember.
