One of the three branches of the United States government, the executive branch, includes many important people and consequential parts. The essential parts and people include the chief executive (president), vice president, and various executive offices, departments and agencies. The chief executive has many important roles that include the nation's chief executive, chief diplomat, commander in chief, chief of state, and legislative leader. In addition, the executive branch must have checks on the legislative and judicial branches. For example, the executive branch can propose laws, call special meetings of Congress, and they can veto laws for the legislative branch. For the judicial branch, the executive branch appoints federal judges.
