Julius Caesar: The People's Ruler
In the final century B.C., a wealthy young man named Julius Caesar came to power in Rome. This feat itself was not unusual; however the means used to achieve such power were revolutionary. Caesar became the first politician ever to appeal to the people, promising to help the poor, sick, and lonely. Because of his devotion to the general populous, Caesar was a hero in ancient Rome, and was truly the "People's King."
Julius Caesar began his political career at age sixteen. By the time he was thirty, still a young man, he had gained major political office in Spain, an area controlled by Rome. Once in control in Spain, Caesar first showed his passion for the people.
