Summary: This essay is about the similiarities between the American Empire and the Roman Empire.
Previous to the Cold War (1945-1991), the leading superpowers of the world were the Soviet Union and the United States. The Cold War, an arms, space, propaganda, and military race between the two superpowers of the world at the time: The United States and the Soviet Union, was a key transitional period into imperialism. After the cold war and the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the United States was left as a sole superpower with only the potential to grow. Today, President George W. Bush preserves the margin against any rivals by creating the Bush Doctrine. President Bush conveyed this doctrine which essentially monopolizes the United States' military power indefinitely, in a speech on June 2, 2002.
