    In the first book of the novel The Chosen written by Chaim Potok, the author shows that the beginning of a true friendship will defy all boundaries whether there are different backgrounds, different beliefs or even different appearances.

    At the beginning of the story Reuven Malter, an Americanized Jewish, and Danny Saunders, a Hasidic (very traditional) Jewish are totally unaware of each other's existence.  Both boys meet for the first time during a baseball game, where feelings of tension, competition and kind of hatred begin to grow between them and their teams.  Danny hits Reuven in the eye forcing him to go to the hospital. While Reuven is recovering, Danny visits him. At first Reuven refuses to talk to him, but the next day Danny returns and Reuven finally opens up. The two of them miraculously overcome...
