Summary: This essay is about the cold war, and how it began. it is a document based essay
Between 1945, and 1950 tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union continued to build. Because of actions taken by both of the countries, the United States and the Soviet Union were on the brink of war. Some of the major causes of the Cold War were the creations of the Iron Curtain, Truman Doctrine, Marshall Plan, and NATO, in which the United States tried to contain Communism. And even though there were no actually weapons that were used in the war, weapons were being developed.

    On March 5, 1946, Winston Churchill made his speech discussing the Iron Curtain. The phrase represents European division between a mostly democratic Western Europe, and a Communist Eastern Europe. Churchill believed all of the famous cities that were on the east side of the curtain lay within the Soviet sphere. "Because of this there are all subjects in one form or another...
