This article is about how the legislators will be willing to cut their spending to help California's budget crisis: Legislative leaders agreed Monday to cut Assembly and Senate spending by 9 million dollars. Many people say that this move is symbolically important, but largely insignificant in curing the state's budget crisis. Some of the things that would be cut from their spending would include meals, travel and furniture. Both the GOP and Democratic Party legislators supported the move. Gov. Gray Davis' recent budget proposal called for reductions in nearly every agency except the Legislature, which had received an 8 million-dollar budget increase. The 9 million dollars in cuts are far less than the 1 percent of the state's estimated 26 to 34 billion dollar budget crises.
