When Thomas Jefferson wrote: "All men are created equal" he did not mean it. What he actually believed in was more like, all white men are created equal. Thomas Jefferson is looked upon by many as one of the greatest men in history, and for the most part they are correct. However, many tend overlook his flaws. He was a racist. He believed that the white race was the best race. Not only that, but he was also a large slave owner, and no one who owns slaves can possibly believe in equality. Jefferson even thought that whites and blacks should not, and could not live together outside of slavery. Using evidence from the past one can easily conclude that Thomas Jefferson did not believe in equality of mankind.
