For years, women have been doing the same work as men and they receive less pay. This unfair practice supposedly ended in 1963 when John F. Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act (Sobieraj). I am a huge sports fan and the large discrepancy of pay between the men and women's sporting events is unbelievable. In tennis, women's ratings are generally higher than men's, however, they are still paid less than men in three of the four major tournaments. Other sports, such as women's soccer gets far more coverage than men, and still women don't get the same respect men get. The US Women's soccer team won the World Cup in 1999, yet they made less that year than the men's team, who last won the World Cup in 1995.
