Summary: Determines if a case is a political question using the guidelines presented by the Baker case.
The "Baker definition" of guidelines for political questions is the most commonly referred document on the matter. The words, "textually demonstrable commitment of the issue to a coordinate political department," are usually referred to when deciphering if a case contains should be determined a political question. Although the concept of a political question seems vague and subjective, there is a unifying theory. The goal of the judicial branch is not to resolve power disputes within the separate branches of government, and if that is the primary factor, then the case is a political question.
