Smokejumpers

Summary: Book review about a book called "Smokejumpers" by Elaine Landau.
Story and Main Idea

This book is about the dangerous and brave work of smokejumpers. They fight fires that regular fire stations can't fight. They are a great help in the U.S.A. Most of the fires they fight start out in hot dry forests. This book explains how to get into the smokejumping business and how smokejumpers plan and fight the fires. They use whichever strategy necessary for the fire. It goes thought the procedures one by one, from getting the supplies ready in advance, to the siren going off at the base, to jumping out of the plane, fighting the fire, checking to make sure the fire is out, leaving, and everything in between. It also shows all the supplies that may of may not be necessary in the smokejumping business. It goes over almost everything you would want to know about it. If you want to learn about smokejumping, this is your book!

Setting, Time, and Place

The setting is wherever they are needed, the time, or when smokejumpers are on duty, is from about June 1st to October 15th, and the place is at the smokejumper bases of at the fires.
