Summary: This essay discusses both the comic-relief and tragedy in the European play "Faustus."
"Faustus", a play which consists of both comic relief and tragedy. Two different themes that seems to contradict each other and the story. The Comedy in the play reflects on Faustus confusions about life, and what he feels and wants in life. Each comedy scene most likely ended relatively quickly, because Faustus never holds a consecutive thought in mind. The most focused comedy scenes were with the Clown and Wagner, which related to simple evil comedy (where one would have to be evil or uncaring of others to understand). The scenes with Robin and Rafe represent what Faustus is feeling during their expeditions. And the last comic relief was with the Horse Courser.
