At the peak of the Vietnam War, America had over five hundred thousand troops fighting against an estimated ten thousand Viet Cong guerillas. By all odds they should have easily overpowered their opposition and achieved their objective of keeping South Vietnam free from communist rule. But they didn't. No one will ever know the real reason why this happened, but there are many different theories as to why America did not gain victory in the Vietnam War.
