The American Revolution and "The Patriot"
Summary: This in an essay speaking about the similarities and differences between the American Revolution and the movie "The Patriot."
I think that the movie, The Patriot, did a fairly good job of describing and portraying the Revolutionary War. For one thing, the uniforms seemed to be consistent with what they were like hundreds of years ago. With the British uniforms being red and being called "Redcoats" and the militia having no identical uniforms, it seems to be historically accurate. Also, the French seemed to have been liked by the colonists. That would be the same as in the war because since the British and French were enemies after the British beat them in the French - Indian Wars. The French would have wanted revenge. Finally, the style of British warfare was correct. The British fought by lining up and firing at once in the real Revolutionary War,
In contrast, the movie wasn't completely correct. One main thing is that there was very little said about slavery. Slavery...
