The short story "Sucker" by Carson McCullers is about a pair of cousins whose names are Pete, 16, and Sucker, 12, whose real name is Richard. Sucker really admires his cousin Pete, whom he lived with. Sucker was just an innocent child who would believe anything Pete said. That is how he acquired his nick-name, Sucker, because he was so gullible. As the story continues, Sucker changes drastically for the worse. He starts hanging out with a gang of kids and he would not wear any of Pete's old clothes. The cousins rarely ever talk to each other anymore.
