Similar sympathy created for Sam and Luther in two different books Sympathy is portrayed a great deal in these two books for both main characters. Both of these books make the characters seem as if they have been wrongly done by, this causes the reader to feel sympathy for Sam and Luther.
Grisham allows the reader to feel sympathy for Sam in spite of his actions in the past. When Sam was a free man he killed a black man that lived on his property called Joe Lincoln.
