Corruption is the Theme of "Animal Farm"
Summary: Corruption is the theme throughout the book "Animal Farm" by George Orwell.
No matter how pure one's intentions, something, or someone can always corrupt them. That is one of the main ideas of Animal Farm; corruption. It shines through many times; in Old Major's ideas, the pigs, and the humans.
In the beginning of the book, Old Major told the animals his dream of freedom for everything on four legs or that had wings. Then, Old Major died, leaving behind his wisdom and his vision. The other animals carried out his dream, naming it Animalism, and writing their Seven Commandments. The animals then painted them on the wall and lived by them everyday, that is, until the pigs started to lose focus.
One night, the pigs decided since they were the smartest and ran the farm, the deserved to sleep in a bed. So, they rewrote Commandment Four until it fit their liking. It was now okay for them to...
