The Contributions of John Locke and Thomas Hobbes
Summary: Essay describes how John Locke and Thomas Hobbes contributed to the concept of a democratic society.
When ordinary citizens are living in a state of nature, it means that they are living in a society where there is not any form of governing. However, when they are living in a civil society, they are living in a society with a form of government controlling different individual's rights. If I had the chance to chose whether to live in a stature of nature or in a civil society, I would prefer to live in a civil society. With a form of government passing out laws and limiting each individual right's, the society would be much better organized and there wouldn't be as much chaos when living in a state of nature. One reason why I would want to live in a civil society is that having a government limiting each person's right and setting laws that cannot be broken can lower the rate of people...
