Dreams & Nightmares

A dream is a sequence of images, emotions, and thoughts passing through your mind as you sleep. Dreams are notable for their hallucinatory imagery, discontinuities, and incongruities, and for you the dreamer delusional acceptance of the content and later difficulties remembering it.
We experience our most vivid dreams during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. During REM sleep the brain is very active, your eyes move back and forth rapidly under your eyelids, and the larger muscles in your body are completely relaxed. REM sleep occur every 90 -100 minutes, 3 to 4 times a night and lasts as long as the night progresses. The final REM period can last as long as 45 minutes. Some of the less vivid dreams that you experience occur at other times during the night.
Dreams can be extremely useful in learning more about your feelings, thoughts, behavior, motives and values. A nightmare is a very distressing...
