Circles

Summary: A nice college admission essay on circles as well as my plans for the future.
When you look at a circle, what do you see? You probably see a circle, a simple geometric shape. I however, see it differently. In my mind I visualize points, tangent lines, axes, equations, and pi. All that math from a simple circle. I possess a natural curiosity and wish to explore mathematics on a regular basis. I enjoy breaking down objects, concepts, or methods into smaller pieces and reassembling them to create a better, more logical picture of the whole.

It is only logical that after graduation from high school, I be admitted into a college with a strong emphasis in science so that my natural skills reach their fullest potential. I believe that the University of Pennsylvania will be able to provide me with the intellectual support in a strong community that I require to continue expanding my base of knowledge. At the same time, your programs would provide me with ample opportunities to apply my knowledge to real world situations, where a circle could be anything from a giant particle accelerator to the smallest red blood cell. Additionally, the University of Pennsylvania has world class professors who I am sure are completely up to date on all the latest scientific research and who will not hesitate to guide me down the right path to a successful future.

During my time in college, I plan to focus my attention onto mathematics, since it currently has the most appeal to me. Mathematics provides many interesting problems to solve, several with profitable solutions. It is my interest and passion in the field of mathematics that will make me a unique member of the University of Pennsylvania. I plan to absorb as much mathematical knowledge as possible, not only to help myself, but to help others as well. In my experience, I have sensed that my passion has spread to others, often inspiring them to reach higher. In addition to mathematics, I plan to use my college experience to enhance my knowledge and skills in other subject areas as well a experience the unique culture of Philadelphia.

The information learned and the experiences gained from my attendance will certainly ensure that my future will not only be successful for myself, but for others around me as well.
