The earliest origins of our modern Halloween can be traced back to the 5th century BC with the Samhain, the Celtic New Year, which was November 1. The Celts lived in Britain, Ireland and Northern France. One story believes that the spirits of the dead of those who had died during the preceding year would arise and come back to search of living bodies to posses for the next year.
