To me, this quote does explain what history is. But, history is very unique, and cannot be the same every time around. History may technically "repeat" itself, but it's never the same events. I think that a person's character, though, can be a big role in history. For example, what would have happened if Abraham Lincoln had different morals and thoughts on slavery? Would there still be slaves today? Would the South be it's own country? Who knows, but one thing I believe is that everything happens for a reason. So to say that one's character has an important part in history, is correct. One individual can make a difference in what occurs in their time.
