Romero is a true story about a catholic priest, Archbishop Oscar Romero, who lived in El Salvador during the political unrest in the 1980s. The government launched a terror campaign against the guerillas in an attempt to crush them. Archbishop Romero protested against the government's actions. The government began to destroy churches and murder priests. Despite persecution, Romero continued to speak out against the killings that the government committed against the people of El Salvador. During this time Romero could have thrown the elements of social justice out of the window, but he didn't, he stuck to his true beliefs. Some major Catholic Social Teachings are: putting the needs of the vulnerable first, every person has a right and duty to participate in society, and every creation is precious.
