"Some people seek change while others have change forced upon them." Changing self is a process, which will always cause individuals to respond differently, depending on whether they see it a positive or negative development. The composers of My Place, The Door, Bend It Like Beckham and two images of Kylie Minogue clearly represent this nature of change in his/her text and hence in hindsight, I know each has contributed to my own knowledge and understanding of change, particularly that of the self. To effectively convey their characters' differing views on change, each composer employed a number of techniques including first person narrative, metaphor and contrast. The composers have employed these techniques to structure their text in order to present their ideas on changing self and express these to their desired audience.
