In 1952 Jean Giono published a novel which he called, for the following excellent reasons of his own, Le Moulin de Pologne:

Parce que beaucoup de fermes, ou domaines de Haute Provence avaient au XIXe siècle des Moulins à farine attenants, qu'ils moulaient du blé pour tout le voisinage et qu'ils les appelaient naturellement Moulins avec une caractéristique quelconque: … Parce qu'au XVIIIe siècle beaucoup de domaines ont été baptisés Pologne à la suite de la nationalité de la reine de France qui était Polonaise …¹
