Mr. Darrow could probably write a book on any subject, provided that he were given a little spare time to consult what the professors call "secondary sources". As a matter of fact, on the subject of criminology he himself comes very near to being an original source of information. I mean that his experience as a lawyer in criminal trials gives him a vantage ground from which he is able to make a great number of significantly true observations regarding the penal law and its operations.
