Sports Stars on Tom Dolan
Imagine jumping into a pool of water and worrying about being able to breathe. Swimmer Tom Dolan does this thousands of times every year. Since he was a child, Dolan has suffered from asthma, a disease that makes it difficult for him to breathe. Through hard work Dolan has overcome his asthma and the fear it causes to win back-to-back U.S. Swimmer of the Year awards. He is also a world-record holder in the 400-meter individual medley and may be the best male swimmer in the United States. Dolan made all his dreams come true when he captured the gold medal in the 400-meter individual medley at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.
