Sports Stars on Todd Eldredge
In 1992, Todd Eldredge thought his figure skating career had ended. He had won back-to-back men's titles at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships (1990-91), but a back injury and a string of disappointing performances made him consider giving up the sport he loved. Fortunately, Eldredge--a fierce competitor--decided to prove that he was not finished at the age of 21. With renewed determination, he returned in 1996 to give the greatest performance of his life. Eldredge won the men's title at the World Figure Skating Championships in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Because he did not quit, Eldredge became the best in the world. Despite a disappointing performance at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, Eldredge remains one of the greatest male figure skaters in American history.
