Teemu Selanne--high-scoring forward for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim--is one of the most feared players in the National Hockey League (NHL). Selanne--known as the "Finnish Flash"--set NHL rookie records during the 1992-93 season with 76 goals and 132 points and won the Calder Trophy as the league's rookie of the year. Selanne has been an All Star in every one of his NHL seasons and now teams with Paul Kariya to make the Mighty Ducks a Stanley Cup contender.

Teemu Selanne (Tay-MOO SEH-lahn-nay) was born July 3, 1970 in Helsinki, Finland. He has a twin brother, Paavo, and another brother, Panu. Selanne attended business college and served for one year in the Finnish Army, a requirement for all Finnish youngsters.
