Steve Young once said that he's had one of the strangest careers in National Football League (NFL) history. It's hard to argue with him. Who else could have been named the NFL's Most Valuable Player, as Young was in 1992 and 1994, and still not be sure he was going to be the starting quarterback the next year? The problem was that the quarterback he replaced was the legendary Joe Montana, who had led Young's team, the San Francisco 49ers, to four Super Bowl championships. Overcoming many obstacles, Young has earned his place as the best quarterback in the NFL by never quitting, a lesson he learned from his father. In 1995 he finally made the San Francisco fans forget Montana, leading the 49ers to a Super Bowl championship.
