Dictionary of Literary Biography on Solveig von Schoultz
While Solveig von Schoultz is considered one of the masters of Finland-Swedish poetry, her importance also extends across regional and linguistic boundaries to include Swedish-language literature in general and the Finnish national canon. A prolific writer whose favored genres were poetry and short prose, she came to prominence following the era of the innovative Finland-Swedish modernists--whose period ranged from the early 1910s to the 1920s--and is often categorized as a second-generation modernist. The precisely crafted, economical style that she steadily developed and perfected throughout her career is entirely original, however.
