A remarkably productive writer, speaker, and educator, Scott Nearing completed significant publications nearly every single year of his adult life; further, he demonstrated in his published work an ability to envision developments in politics and economics far in advance of other thinkers. As early as the second decade of the twentieth century, Nearing published works on the malign nature of white supremacy as a threat to world peace and the relationship between the oil trade and world war--two themes that proved relevant to the rest of the century.
