Dictionary of Literary Biography on Reymundo Gamboa
Reymundo Gamboa is an ascending writer whose ethnographic poetry and prose reflect an intense, experiential, inward journey. Gamboa has been lauded for his linguistic style of writing which also evokes the universality of his life within the context of the Chicano cultural heritage. Born in Anthony, New Mexico, Gamboa is the son of José Leonardo Gamboa and María Concepción Gamboa. Both his parents were farm workers, his father being deeply involved in César Chávez's United Farm Workers Union. While Gamboa was not as active in the farm workers movement as were his parents and his brother, Jesse, he nevertheless supported their work and, on occasion, joined them on the picket line. Most of his support, however, was by the pen and voice at university sites.
