Dictionary of Literary Biography on Pierre Morency
Poet and playwright, Pierre Morency demonstrates a profound need for introspection, a need which he satisfies in sounding the depths of that which is initially unknown to man. His works are a stage upon which the secrets of life are revealed in their simplest form; he focuses on the passage of time which reveals man's mortality, and, more important, on man's eagerness to experience new sensations and renew knowledge. Born to Louis and Laurette Crousset Morency in Lauzon, Quebec, in 1942, Morency received a traditional education at the Collège de Lévis and obtained a licence ès lettres (1966) at Université Laval in Quebec City. It was at this institution, as Morency recalls, that he hoped to become a writer by pursuing his interests in literature, linguistics, philology, and French language studies.
