During the last thirty years, Nicholas Mosley has had eleven works of fiction published and has gradually established himself among discerning readers of contemporary literature as one of the most individualistic and interesting of postwar English novelists. He has followed his own path with artistic integrity, avoiding every kind of fashionable fiction during a period when modishness has been widespread. As a result, he has not achieved great popular success, and, while he is well known and highly regarded in the British literary world, like some other significant postwar novelists, he has yet to win a substantial academic audience.
