Max Allan Collins has often been called a Renaissance man of mystery, and for good reasons. The author of over one hundred works, Collins's oeuvre includes novels, short stories, nonfiction books, graphic novels and comic books and strips, novelizations and media tie-ins, screenplays, and edited works, most of which deal with crime in one manifestation or another. Add to these accomplishments directing credits on four independent films and membership in two rock 'n' roll bands, and you have one very busy man. In the first four months of 2001, for example, he turned out four books, one of which, bizarrely, was a novelization of the movie adapted from his own graphic novel, Road to Perdition. Author of the popular historical crime series "Nathan Heller" about a Chicago shamus, Collins has also penned three other series featuring detectives, one featuring crime-buster Eliot Ness, and the "Disaster" series of crime novels...
