Matthew J. Bruccoli has devoted his life to American literature--to preserving the words of literary authors and publishing well-documented, thoroughly researched books about some of America's finest writers. He has distinguished himself as a bibliographer, as a biographer, as a textual scholar, and as a literary historian; he is among the most significant book collectors in the field of modern American literature; he is president of a successful publishing company; and he is a respected professor. Each of his literary endeavors augments the others as he strives for the fullest possible understanding of his subject. Bruccoli's most consuming interest has been in F. Scott Fitzgerald, whose estate he has served as an executor since the death of Fitzgerald's daughter. He has also written biographies of John O'Hara, James Gould Cozzens, Ross Macdonald, and bookman Mitchell Kennerley.
