Former advertising copywriter and newspaper editor-turned-novelist Lilian Jackson Braun has made a name for herself and won a large and loyal audience with her carefully crafted, witty, and highly entertaining "The Cat Who . . ." mystery series. Since her debut, The Cat Who Could Read Backwards, the author has completed more than twenty novels in the popular series. While that in itself is impressive, what is even more striking is the fact that the prolific Braun is a spry octogenarian who wrote her first three books in the mid-1960s only to abandon her literary career until 1986--a hiatus of eighteen years.
